Summer has arrived! School’s out, the Solstice passed and we’re ready to roll. Things are in full swing here at The Beav and all our trips are up and running. Since we have so many different options for summer family fun, we thought it might be helpful to go over them all again! Keep reading to learn about all the family activities in the Adirondacks we are offering this summer.
The Hudson River was named one of the top whitewater day trips in the country and for good reason. It’s a gorgeous (literally, gorge-ous) full-day whitewater trip that ranges from Class III-Class IV+ depending on the time of year. Summertime brings warm Class III-IV water, wave after wave over the bow of the boat, and even a splash fight or two. If you are a group of adults or family with children over 8 looking to have an all-day adventure, this is the trip for you. Click here to learn more.
If you have a little less time or kids on the younger side, head to The Sacandaga River to get your thrills. The Sac is 15 minutes away from Lake George and is perfect for anyone looking to add some adrenaline to their day. The Sac has a little of everything–splashy waves, an excellent swimming section and all around good fun. With three trip times a day, The Sacandaga River is your best bet for a fun family activity near Lake George.
Want to take it down a notch? Our Canoe and Kayak Center is the right spot for a mellow, tranquil day on the water. We’ve got kayaks, canoes and tubes to take on a self-guided trip down the Lower Hudson. Bring a bathing suit, picnic lunch and some sunscreen. The Lower Hudson is a beautiful stretch with tons of channels to explore, and lots of wildlife to peek at. A day at the Canoe and Kayak Center is built exactly how you want it, show up anytime between 10 and 3 to get on the water, and catch the hourly shuttle back to your car at the end of your trip.
