Our brick-and-mortar store is located near the junction of NY Routes 8 & 28 in Wevertown, N.Y., just a few yards south of the traffic light. Yep, that's us, in the picturesque church building beside Mill Creek. The church of St. Charles Borromeo was erected in 1875 to provide a home church for the swelling ranks of French and Irish immigrants who had moved here to work in the tanneries, lumber camps, and mines. The building served in this capacity into the mid-1970s, when dwindling populations and increased costs made maintaining the building difficult; even as better roads and transportation made nearby larger churches a feasible alternative for the local parishioners. Conveniently located in the heart of the southeastern Adirondacks, our store is located just minutes from Gore Mountain Ski Resort, the historic Adirondack Railway Museum, several great hiking destinations (Crane Mountain, Peaked Mountain, Siamese Ponds, to name a few), and Garnet, Loon, Chatiamac, and Friends Lakes. We're about a half hour's drive from Bolton Landing, Lake George, Indian Lake, and Speculator. For the fishermen (and women), we carry a great selection of spin-casting equipment and lures as well as Orvis fly-fishing equipment. Feel free to ask us about current fishing conditions, what flies or lures are working well, where the action's at, or the scoop on the latest big catch. We're avid fishermen too, so we keep abreast of the goings-on up here. Our camping & hiking department is the perfect place to pick up a great new Kelty pack or tent, Slumberjack pad or sleeping bag, and great hiking shoes from Asolo and Hi-Tec. And if you forgot that important little something like a headlamp, first-aid kit, or camp stove, we've got you covered there, too. Drop by for those supplies you just don't want to head out without.
