Directions
Travel Time Be sure to pick the Beaver Brook Center you're planning to use! It's about 4 1/2 hours from midtown Manhattan, Northern New Jersey,
Connecticut, or Boston to any of our activity centers; 1 1/2 hours from Albany;
a half hour from Lake George to our store or raft base, 15 minutes to our Canoe
Center.. If you are coming from anywhere south of Lake George, NY; these are the directions for you. For those coming from points east below Lake George (southern New England states), make your way to the NYS Thruway or Northway and follow these directions. Be sure to pick the Beaver Brook Center you're planning to use:
If you're not sure which place is the right place for your activity, give us a call and we'll point you in the right direction! 1-888-454-8433 Our raft base is in the Inn on Gore, where owners Sue and Rich Mannuci provide great lodging deals and wonderful aprés-raft dinners. Here's how to get there: From the South: If you're coming from below Albany, get to the New York State Thruway I-87 and head north to ALBANY exit 24. Get off the Thruway (there's a toll booth at this exit) and get onto the Northway I-87(Yep, it's the same Interstate designation, but it's different). Take exit 23 Warrensburg. At the end of the ramp, take a left and then go right at the traffic light. This will put you on Route 9 heading north. You'll know you are heading in the right direction if you pass a McDonalds on your right immediately after turning onto Route 9. Drive through Warrensburg and about 2 miles north of town take a left onto Route 28. You will pass our store 11 miles or so down Route 28, proceed another 5 miles and take a left turn onto Peaceful Valley Road. You'll know the turn is coming up in about a mile when you pass Casey's North Log Cabin Tavern. You will drive down Peaceful Valley Road and pass the turn for Gore Mountain Ski Center. 1/3 of a mile past this, turn right into the driveway for the Inn on Gore! Canoe & Kayak Center Our Canoe & Kayak Center is located in lovely Thurman Station, right on the shore of the Hudson River. It's a great place to take your first trip in a kayak or canoe, or to come back to year after year. You don't need reservations, but you can call ahead to make sure we have the boats you want for that day. If you do reserve, we hold your reservation for one hour, after which we will send the boats out. Keep in mind the following details: we launch Trip 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Trip 2 to Luzerne from 10 a.m. to noon. If we can't get your group headed down by these times, we will not launch you, so show up with plenty of time to get on the water. Directions: If you're coming from below Albany, get to the New York State Thruway I-87 and head north to exit 24 in Albany. Get off the Thruway (there's a toll booth at this exit) and get onto I-87 the Northway (Yep, it's the same Interstate designation, but it is not the Thruway anymore - it is the Northway now). In the middle of Warrensburg, take a left onto Route 418 at a traffic light just past (north of) the Stewarts Store. Route 418 immediately crosses the Schroon River and bends sharply right, don't go straight up the hill. Follow Route 418 as it winds along the Schroon River for about 3 1/2 miles and you will cross the Hudson River. Immediately after crossing the Hudson, you will see our sign, with a brightly painted canoe, on the left. Turn in the driveway in front of the sign. Located at the junction of Routes 8 & 28 in Wevertown, our store provides camping supplies, fishing and fly fishing gear, canoe and kayak sales, maps, guidebooks, and outdoor clothing for the outdoor enthusiasts coming to our neighborhood. It is also where most of our guided fishing, canoeing, rock climbing, caving, (pretty much everything except rafting trips and Canoe Center visitors) and other guided trips meet to get started. If you aren't sure where to meet for a guided trip, this is probably the place, but don't hesitate to call!
