Our private launch site allows paddlers to canoe or kayak on one of the most scenic stretches of the Upper Hudson River. We operate self-guided trips on the calm and serene Upper Hudson. Trips are a tranquil 3-5 mile paddle depending on water levels. Trip times are up to you! Show up any time between 10-4 and put on the water with your own group. Self-guided means your own private trip! We run pick ups down river every hour on the hour.
This is a great trip for first-timers and experienced paddlers alike, and it’s easy to get there too. We are just 15 minutes from Lake George. Beaver Brook has the only private launch site on this stretch of river. That means that once you get to us we will supply you with boats, pfds, instructions and a shuttle ride back. 10 minutes after you pull in you’ll be on the water, no long bus rides here!
We also rent canoes and kayaks to take off site!
Single Kayak- $30.00
Tandem Kayak or Canoe- $40.00
Adults & teens: $19.00
12 & under: $15.00
See Tubing page for more info
Prices are based on 1 person per kayak and 2 people per canoe or tandem kayak. Extra passengers (2 children, or 1 adult based on load capacity) can be added for $5.00 per person.
We can accommodate large groups (up to 100 people) and give substantial group discounts with a reservation.
Discounts cannot be combined but will we always honor whichever discount saves you the most money.
We also start our tubing trips here.
Open 7 Days a week from June 23rd to September 3rd
We will open for the season Memorial day weekend. We will then be open weekends until 6/23 when we go to seven days/week.
If you have a group and want to come midweek between Memorial Day and 6/23, just give us a shout we will be happy to open up for you. Call for details.
Trips start whenever you get here! Hours are 10-4 and trips may launch at any time during that window. Tubers may put on 10-3. Shuttles run until 6pm.
Reservations are not necessary but are recommended, especially during holiday periods.
Beaver Brook charges $10.00 to shuttle each non-Beaver Brook boat. If you have set up your own shuttle, we ask that you use the public put in upstream from us.
Beaver Brook is the only company running on this section of the Hudson with a private launch site. All other companies bus to and from the river in large groups. Beaver Brook lets you run your trip at your own pace without having to wait for other groups. This applies to tubers as well!
Our canoe, kayak & tubing center is where you head for some easy river fun.
Address: There is no address to be honest. We lease land right on the river in Thurman, NY
Get off exit 23 at Warrensburg and then head north on Rt. 9. You know you are going the right way if you immediately go past a McDonald’s. Go to the third light past the McDonald’s and take a left (There is a pretty good sized health center on the corner). This is Rt. 418. Go 3 1/2 miles on Rt. 418 and you will cross a bridge over the Hudson. We are on the left immediately after this bridge. You will see our sign. Go down the drive and you are there!
So much fun. We went with kids between the ages of 7-12. As usual, the guides make the trip. The guides with Beaver Brook were outstanding. Liam was the guide who took us down the river, and he was awesome– funny, knowledgeable, kid and adult friendly and seemed to really enjoy being out on the river with us. All of the guides in the other rafts seemed great as well. Would absolutely recommend and cannot wait to come back.
